Quadrant Analysis

Satisfaction with individual elements of an Extension activity is used in quadrant analysis to identify drivers of overall satisfaction with an activity. Two attributes of individual elements are plotted: performance (mean score with a maximum of 5.0 possible) and importance (correlation with overall satisfaction with an event).

With all of the elements plotted, a quadrant (four areas) is created using the mean performance and importance scores. Each element falls into one of the four quadrants. Quadrant analysis is a program improvement tool – with each quadrant having its own meaning and prescription for action to improve future events.

Quadrant analysis can be done at any level: statewide or by state goal, region, district, county, event type, individual program, or individual instructor. It is most useful for individual programs.
